Frequently Asked Questions

  • Before your scheduled service, it is essential to discontinue the use of harsh acids, active ingredients, and exfoliants for a period of 5-7 days. Choose comfortable attire for your appointment. On the morning of your service, you may apply gentle hydrating products as well as your daily SPF. We kindly ask that you arrive with makeup-free skin to ensure optimal treatment results. For any treatment-specific preparations, please consult with your service provider.

  • After your facial, it is essential to follow a gentle hydrating routine to maintain skin health. If sun exposure is unavoidable, apply a broad-spectrum SPF to protect your skin. Otherwise, refrain from UV exposure. Minimize physical activity to keep your internal temperature stable and avoid steam, saunas, and hot showers for at least 24 hours.

Hydration is crucial; drink ample amounts of mineral and electrolyte-enhanced water. Incorporate nutrient-dense foods into your diet to support skin recovery. Additionally, refer to any specific instructions provided by your skincare specialist for optimal results.

  • After your treatment, it's essential to avoid hot water, steam, and activities that raise your body's internal temperature. Elevated heat can lead to potential damage, such as hyperpigmentation. Refrain from using harsh chemicals and exfoliants, including retinols, AHAs, BHAs, fragrances, and scrubs. Instead, select simple, calming, and hydrating products for your skin.

Additionally, it is crucial to steer clear of swimming, sun exposure, tanning, strenuous workouts, and the application of makeup during the recovery period (24-48 Hours). For comprehensive guidance on post-treatment care, please consult your skincare provider.

  • Medications such as Accutane and other acne treatments, anti-inflammatory medications (including steroids), painkillers, and various prescriptions may necessitate the rescheduling of your services. Additionally, viral infections—such as colds, cold sores, warts—and other conditions such as bacterial or fungal infections, undiagnosed lumps, lesions, or swelling, as well as known sensitivities or allergies to specific products, will require a complete rescheduling of services.

Contraindications such as bruising, swelling, recent scar tissue, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, acne vulgaris, rosacea, skin tags, milia, recent sunburn, and the use of current medications may necessitate alterations to the planned service.

If you are uncertain about your ability to receive a facial, it is advisable to consult your physician for a doctor’s note; however, please be aware that such a note does not guarantee the approval of the service. Your health and safety are our utmost priority, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.

  • If you're looking for softer, smoother, hydrated skin, facial treatments can be beneficial. These treatments often incorporate a variety of techniques and products designed to cater to your skin's specific needs. By addressing concerns like dryness, dullness, and uneven texture, facials can restore skin vitality and enhance overall appearance.

Consulting with a skincare professional can provide personalized solutions tailored to your skin type and concerns. Incorporating facial treatments into your skincare regimen can lead to lasting results, giving you the radiant complexion you desire.

  • Almost all products used in Garden’s treatment room are pregnancy and breastfeeding safe. Our estheticians are knowledgeable and equipped to perform facials on those who are expecting. It is essential to inform your esthetician if you are pregnant. While facials are generally an option, some treatments may not be suitable for mothers-to-be. We recommend waiting until you are past the 12-week mark and obtaining a note from your physician if you are not a regular client.

Our treatment room is designed to provide comfortable arrangements, with the ability to tailor or shorten treatments as needed. Please keep your service provider informed regarding your pregnancy and breastfeeding status to ensure the safety and well-being of both you and your baby.

  • It is advisable to schedule professional treatments every 3-5 weeks for optimal targeting and results. At Garden Wellness, we emphasize the importance of both achieving results and ensuring relaxation. For those seeking relaxation benefits, we recommend sessions every 4-8 weeks. However, it is crucial to note that extending the interval between treatments may diminish the cumulative benefits and results achieved through consistent care. Prioritizing your schedule for regular treatments can enhance overall well-being while maintaining the progress you desire.

Consult with your esthetician to develop a customized treatment plan that aligns with your personal skincare goals. A tailored approach will allow for optimal results, addressing your unique needs and concerns effectively. Regular communication and follow-up appointments can enhance the effectiveness of your regimen, ensuring that adjustments can be made as your skin evolves. Prioritize collaboration for the best outcomes in your skincare journey.

  • We are proud to be able to claim we are a low tox studio. Most services adhere to a strict guidline:

    Avoidance of Harmful Chemicals:

    • Parabens: These are preservatives that have been linked to endocrine disruption.

    • Phthalates: These are chemicals used in many beauty products for their preservative and plasticizing properties, and have been linked to endocrine disruption and other health issues.

    • Synthetic Fragrances: These can contain hidden chemicals that may cause allergic reactions or skin irritation.

    • Formaldehyde: A known carcinogen.

    • Lead: A heavy metal that can be toxic.

    • Sulfates: These can be harsh and drying for the skin.

It is crucial to acknowledge that while the majority of our skincare and bodycare services prioritize non-toxic standards, certain exceptions are integral to our operational guidelines.

Lash, Brow, and Waxing Services: These services may involve the use of perm-like solutions and serums, waxes, and esters. Additionally, plant-based dyes occasionally contain preservatives, alongside astringents that may be utilized during the service.

Chemical Peels: It is important to note that chemical peels often incorporate degreasing agents, such as acetone and other astringents, combined with formulations that are intentionally strong and potentially irritating—this is characteristic of chemical peel treatments.

Cleaning Protocols: In adherence to Massachusetts State Law, specifically the regulations set forth by the Board of Cosmetology, our cleaning protocols necessitate the use of isopropyl alcohol and Barbicide disinfectant agents for sanitizing surfaces, sinks, and tools involved in facial treatments. To enhance the safety and health of our clients, we exclusively utilize these cleaning agents, complemented by white distilled vinegar in our meticulous cleaning regimen.

This comprehensive approach ensures that we maintain a safe and hygienic environment while delivering quality services to our clients. We consider Garden to be 95% Non Toxic or LowTox.

  • At Garden Wellness, we prioritize the well-being of all our clients, which includes those who may have sensitivities to fragrance. Our commitment to using naturally derived and ethically sourced fragrances ensures that we offer a range of products suitable for various sensitivities.

If you are sensitive to fragrances, we encourage you to communicate your needs to your provider. Our knowledgeable staff will work with you to identify products that can enhance your wellness experience without causing discomfort. We strive to create an inclusive environment where each individual can find enjoyment and benefit from our offerings, regardless of their fragrance preferences. Your comfort and health are our top priorities.
